The Blonde Shiraz
Wine
Head Wines The Blonde Shiraz is grown near Stonewell in the Barossa Valley at 280 metres altitude. It is one of a trio which get their 'hair colour' from the soils of their respective vineyards.
The vineyard is situated on a limestone rock base – blonde in colour – running the length of the vineyard.
The fruit ferments in open top stainless steel for two weeks with whole bunches and, depending on the vintage, a tiny amount of Viognier. Hand plunging and pump overs are twice daily.
It is matured on fine lees in new and seasoned French oak barrels for 15-18 months, then bottled without fining or filtration.
Deep crimson purple, Head Wines The Blonde Shiraz has cherry and stone fruit flavours, velvety texture, firm tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
